Lighting and Urban Life
Lighting is an important parameter in future cities, as the right lighting can ensure visibility and light up streets and urban spaces in ways that increase quality of life. When we speak of lighting today, it's about more than just the functional value of being able to see in the dark. It is also about providing safety, security and experiences in the urban space. There is a focus on the human aspects, including the behaviours that lighting can help support. The use of lighting is based on the ongoing work of substituting street lighting in Copenhagen, as well as experience gained in a number of other pilot projects.
Examples of how we work with lighting are:
• Increased security and safety in traffic
• Better experience and availability of the city's offerings, including cultural and recreational institutions
