Hackathon #phackcph – new ways of using old CPH parking machines

The change towards digital payment of parking tickets is making the old parking ticket vending machines obsolete – so what to do with the 800 machines covering the entire city?

We invited students, start-ups, entrepreneurs and everyone else interested to an evening of co-creation and concept development in CPH Solutions Lab on the 12th of March. They came up with various ideas of what the machines can be used for in the future, and by pitching ideas, discussing concepts and forming groups, eight machines were sent to workshops, studios and universities across the city, for 6 weeks hackathon on the real machines. Winner of ‘Community’ award: Audio Twister – a playing machine based on the interactive game Twister, where it takes 3-4 people to keep the play going, by pressing varying buttons all over the machine

Winner of the ‘Wauw!’ award: CPH Street Poetry – converts parking tickets to poems, where the user can click to print a poem in 6 different languages (by Rune Drewsen and Jesper Taxbøl, Kakano)
